Day 18 - Sore knees diagnosed

Hi all,

I've taken a break from skipping on Saturday, Sunday and today (Monday). However, when I was doing my lunges this morning, I started to get sore knees. I watched a youtube clip on how to do lunges properly and found out I haven't been doing them correctly. This includes bending my knees and pretty a lot of pressure in the wrong places.

I'm going to start skipping again tomorrow and I am going to start doing my lunges correctly and see how my knees hold up.

Instead of skipping I have substituted walking and swimming. However, I think that if I want to get the most out of this carb reduced week, I better put some skipping in there just to make sure. If my knees don't go so well, I'll need to come up with another plan.

Diet is going well. I've had some pretty awesome seafood of late including swordfish steaks marinated in lemon juice, coriander, chilli and garlic. I've got enough left over for about 2 days worth of lunches and dinners. Yesterday I made a mexican style wrap in wholemeal lebanese bread.

Seem to be spending a lot of time shopping and preparing food though. To counter this I am cooking for 2 days at a time.

Life is good :)

  1. I had pain in my joints in my knees in the past when running. Side part. I found doing leg extensions helped a lot, as there is no muscle on the side of your knees but by doing the extensions it builds up the muscles around the knee which support them. Worked for me.

Another thing is buy a good pair of trainers that have good cushioning. Also skip on a rubber mat or wood floor, not on concrete. Then try landing as softly as you can.

I do all the above and my knees are fine.
